Why can’t I leave items outside your shop when you are closed?
Items left outside the shops encourage theft, they block safe access to the shop for our shop workers potentially causing accidents to them and the public, they get wet in the rain and cannot be sold,
they are a nuisance to our neighbours, they increase the burden on the charity for disposal costs.  The path immediately outside our Littleport charity shop is private property.

How much does it cost the charity to dispose of items they cannot sell each year?
In 2016 it cost £3,184.00 to dispose of items that we cannot sell in from our Littleport charity shop.  To find out how you can help us to reduce this cost to the charity click on this link http://branchingoutuk.com/charity-shops/donate-to-our-shops

What steps have you taken to encourage people not to leave items outside your shops when they are closed?
We have put signs in the shops asking people not to leave items outside when the shop is closed.  We have put signs in the Littleport shop window giving contact details for a local charity who will collect your large electrical items for free.  We have notified people through local social media groups that we do not want items left outside the shops.

Do you collect donations?
Sorry, no we cannot collect donations.  We used to provide a collection and delivery service however we found this service the cost of running this service had to be heavily subsidised by the charity.

Do you take electrical items?
We do take small electrical items in good condition and safe working order only and in limited quantities (in our Littleport shop only).  If you are unsure, please contact the shop Tel: 01353 863221

Do you deliver items?
Sorry, no we cannot deliver purchases.  We used to provide a collection and delivery service however we found the cost of running this service had to be heavily subsidised by the charity.

Do you want volunteers?
We do want volunteers, we need your help to run our charity shops.  We are a friendly team and you will have fun, make friends, feel useful and at the same time help the charity to raise money to help people with learning disabilities who have a care and support need.  All volunteers must be over the age of 18 (we do not have an upper age limit).  We have got a large range of activities you can help with.  If you are interested in volunteering to help us keep our charity shops running, please pop into the shops and ask to speak to the shop manager.
All volunteers in our Littleport shop need to undergo a Disclosure Barring Service check for criminal records because we have people with learning disabilities receiving support in the shop environment.  This is a simple and quick procedure that we will organise for you.

Do you negotiate prices?
Sorry we do not negotiate prices as the items we sell are good quality products at very low prices, however we do have a loyalty card scheme and if you are a regular shopper you can earn loyalty points i.e. spend £1 = 1 point, 100 points = £1 off the price of your shopping.  We also occasionally
run sales/offers of certain items to our loyalty card holders.  If you would like a loyalty card, please speak to a member of staff they will be more than happy to help.

Do you have an Ebay shop?
At the moment, we do not have an Ebay shop, although we are hoping to have one in the future, so watch this space!
