General Manager Susan Wiggans Announces Retirement

We would like to share with you a message from our General Manager, Susan Wiggans, as she announces her retirement this month.

Message from Susan Wiggans – General Manager

After an incredibly special 26 years I will soon be retiring from Branching Out.

In some ways it seems like yesterday when I first started working here, but I feel so privileged to have been part of the Branching Out family for so long.  I am blessed with so many wonderful memories, and I feel so very proud to have met and worked with so many inspirational people.  Our service users, staff and volunteers are all part of the team that make Branching Out so special – I truly believe that we are among the best at what we do, we care for each other, we always challenge ourselves to be better and we know that Branching Out is much more than just a day service or a job.  I have also been lucky enough to witness the development of the Branching Out premises from a derelict barn and portacabin to the beautiful, modern buildings, a charity shop, rental house and gardens that are so much better for the work that we do.

I am excited to be able to introduce my replacement to you in the next few weeks and I know you will all be supported by their safe hands to continue everyone’s part in the Branching Out legacy. I have told my replacement that they’ll be taking on one of the best jobs in the world, with a genuine team prioritising values with everything we do linking back to the people we support.  Of course there are the occasional difficult days, but it has always been so worth it for the many fun days.

I am excited for the future for Branching Out, and even thought I have lots of plans to travel the UK with my husband and dog, and spend time with my family, I will always be looking out for news about this amazing charity as it continues its creative, ever-evolving work to meet the needs of those who attend for support.

Thank you for everything, I wish you all the very best.

Susan Wiggans

We will miss Susan very much, but wish her all the best for her retirement, as she spends time with her family.
